Food Waste Hack Competition Winners
We had some absolutely amazing ideas come through our food waste hack competition! Our staff voted for their favourites, and these were the top ones:
Offer to take leftover food home from parties or work functions instead of binning it.
Buy imperfect fresh food from the supermarket to send price signals to retailers that cosmetic standards should be loosened.
Look in the fridge prior to going shopping to see if you can come up with a meal using those first.
Plan meals for the week and only buy food that you will use.
Buy food from the greengrocer, butcher and baker in quantities you will use rather than having to buy in bulk from the supermarket.
Freeze leftovers in single serves to eat when you don’t have time to cook.
The roots of leftover veggies can be replanted to grow new ones (like celery, spring onions, herbs etc).
Cook veggie scraps up in a pot and add it to your dogs food bowl.
